Visited Bolsa Chica ecological reserve for a couple of hours as some of my photo friends go there to photograph shore birds.
This is a Ruddy Duck.
Red Breasted Merganser.
Great Blue Herons were busy nest building.
They would fly from the nest and return with sticks which the female would assemble into their nest. There were at least a half dozen nests in a small area.
A pair of herons with a nest in a large tree.
This pair was in a large palm tree. The male would return with the stick and the female would take it from the male.
Looking for the perfect nesting branch.
Once they drop off the stick they would set out to get another.
